VMware Workstation 7 License Keys are on their way!! Yes it's true, I've just head from VMware and they have confirmed to me that they have just started emailing the keys out to all VCP4's. So keep an eye on your Inbox. Workstation is a brilliant application of which I use daily.

The message from VMware:

Any new certification gets a key, so even if you were a VCP3, your VCP4 is a NEW certification (for vSphere) and you get a key. The only people who will not receive a key is existing VCPs who are not obtaining a new certification.

I have got to call BS on this, however it was not unexpected. those that upgraded for VCP 2 to 3 did not get an updated WS licensed either. nor was the WS5 upgraded either it was a one time key.

I fully expect that when people upgrade 4 to 5 the same will happen

They did say this a long time ago. It's not really a shock for me, although I did have to get it confirmed.

I found this hard to believe. On my VCP4 welcome kit, they state, that I will receive a VMware Workstation 7 license. And I have been VCP since 2.5. Guess I have to wait and see whats happening.

I like the new blog layout Simon, looks great!

When I passed the VCP3 exam, it took a few months to receive my welcome kit and WS key. I sort of expected the same thing after passing VCP4. Personally, I would prefer to get a Fusion 3 license key instead of a WS. Does anyone know if that will become an option for future certs?

Hi Paul, thanks for you kind words. It might be worth speaking to VMware and asking them to consider it as an option for the future. If they don't know people want it, they won't think to offer it.
