My understanding is that the plan is for VCDX3 holders to only have to take the vSphere Design exam to upgrade to VCDX4. We will find out in the coming weeks…

I'm not sure how the upgrade path will look like exactly.
We are still reviewing some options.

So does that mean, when VCDX4 comes out, you'll need to re-take the Defence to upgrade?

At this moment, only the VCDX3 certification exists.
A few candidates used a vSphere design to get certified, but they still receive the VCDX3 certification.

I think you can do a version 3 Ent Ad exam and then do the v4 Design Exam. I think they are flexable like that.
