That's a real hard one for me. The problem with a lot of the storage certifications is that they are bound to one general technology. You do get a good background, but it's still usually on how one vendor implements that technology. I would probably say that the EMC E20-001 (which is the ISM certification from EMC) is actually quite good in checking your overall understanding of how these technologies work, and they check if you have a deeper understanding of what they tried to transfer from the book to your brain.

Thanks for the extra info Bas. I am possibly thinking about doing an entry level storage exam, so it's good that this book will feed me a lot of the relevant information need. Any recommendation on which certs are best for storage beginners?

Oh and thanks for letting me use that video! ^^

That video will keep haunting me, won't it? ^^

By the way, it's also not bad as a basis for EMC entry level certification. Those who might be wondering, I can assure you that this book isn't geared towards EMC specific products. They are mentioned in there on some occasion, or they display EMC's implementation of the technology in the last 3 or 4 pages of a chapter, but it is much more about how these components all work and what comes along with them (stuff like ILM or security are also covered).
